Spring break is the perfect excuse to head somewhere tropical, read a good book, and indulge in some pina coladas. But, because all of that sun exposure can put you at risk of developing fine lines, wrinkles, or even skin cancer, we have created a list of three things to make sure that you pack with you in your beach bag.
SPF Chapstick
We have all spent too much time in the sun and left the beach or the pool with lips that felt a little rawer than ever. To make sure that you avoid that feeling of burnt lips, make sure that you lather up your pout with some serious SPF Chapstick. In fact, we encourage patients to reapply their Chapstick a couple of times an hour because it can come off while your drinking, eating, or even if you lick your lips.
Broad Spectrum Sunscreen
The number one thing that you should invest in before you head to the beach is a good, broad spectrum sunscreen. A broad-spectrum sunscreen will be your skin’s number one shield against the sun’s UVA and UVB rays which can leave your skin looking prematurely aged, or even more prone to skin cancer. When you’re packing a broad-spectrum sunscreen, make sure that you pack both a cream and a spray. You can use a spray on places that are hard to use a cream like on your back, your neck, or even your scalp.
A Big Hat
Your scalp is especially prone to getting sunburned if you don’t cover it up. To help shield your scalp from a serious burn while you’re on vacay, make sure to pack a hat with you in your beach bag.
