If this isn’t your first rodeo— aka your first time visiting Georgia Dermatology Partners— feel free to skip to the next blog post. However, if you are a new patient, we have a few tips to help make your first appointment faster and more effective.
Stop Apply Certain Creams
If you are coming into our office to be seen for a skin condition, stop using any creams or lotions for at least a few days before your appointment. For instance, if you are being seen for a rash or acne, make sure to stop using any creams around three days before your visit. Additionally, we also recommend that patients bring the creams they have been using with them to their appointment— that way we can see first-hand what you’ve been using to treat your condition and what may or may not work moving forward.
Don’t Wear Makeup
If you are self-conscious about being seen in public without makeup because of your skin condition, there’s no need to worry at our office— we have seen it all. In fact, we encourage all of our patients to come to our office with a clean face and without any makeup on so that we can get a closer look at your skin.
Don’t Wear Nail Polish
If you have a nail condition or infection that you are being seen for, remove any nail polish or artificial nails before your appointment. Similar to how having a naked face helps us better diagnose patients with skin problems, having naked nails will do the same.
Among stopping applying certain creams, makeup, and nail polish make sure also to bring your insurance card and information, a list of all applicable medications you are taking, a current driver’s license, and any medical records that may apply to the skin condition you are being seen for.
